What is shs?
WHO WE ARE
We are a group of current Schreyer Scholars who see a need and want to help build a better community. We came to Penn State and the Schreyer Honors College with great excitement and anticipation – there is a wealth of opportunity here for us BUT sometimes, it’s just hard. There is always a lot of work to do, we get overwhelmed with activities and responsibilities and we want everything to be perfect….but it’s not. Classes are hard, expectations are high, and we’re used to everything working out. We’ve been through tough times ourselves, so we understand what it’s like to feel confused, overwhelmed and lost. We’ve found support and want to provide that support for you, too. We are your peers and classmates! We are a shoulder for you to lean on, and most importantly WE ARE PENN STATE!
WHAT WE DO
First, we listen. We are available to just talk and help you sort things out. We won’t pass judgment or tell you that you screwed up. We are unbiased, confidential mentors that can help you manage the trials and tribulations of college. As students, we can only do so much. So, if we think you could benefit from other people on campus, or in the community, we will give you some suggestions of where to find that help.Don’t hesitate to contact us…..we’d love to talk to you!
